How Tutoring Works
Every student learns differently, so each tutoring programme is carefully tailored to the individual. Lessons are designed not only to strengthen subject knowledge, but to build confidence, independence and a genuine sense of academic curiosity.
Step 01
Initial Consultation
We begin with an initial conversation with parents (and often the student) to understand:
-
the student’s year group and school curriculum
-
current strengths and areas where support is needed
-
upcoming exams or academic goals
-
learning style and confidence levels
This ensures lessons are thoughtfully tailored from the very beginning.
Step 02
Bespoke Academic Plan
Following the initial conversation, lessons are planned around the student’s individual needs.
This may include:
-
strengthening key subject knowledge
-
improving essay writing and exam technique
-
developing map and data interpretation skills
-
building confidence with more challenging topics
Lessons are always adapted as the student progresses.
Step 03
Weekly Instruction
Lessons typically take place online, offering flexible, high-quality support wherever students are based.
Sessions are structured yet flexible, combining clear explanation, discussion, targeted practice and review.
Students are encouraged to ask questions, think critically and develop confidence in their own ideas.
Where appropriate, I also provide resources and guidance to support independent study between lessons.
Step 04
Ongoing Support
The focus is on steady, meaningful academic progress over time. Students typically develop:
-
stronger subject knowledge
-
improved exam technique
-
greater confidence in their abilities
-
more independent study habits
Regular feedback keeps lessons focused and ensures progress remains aligned with each student’s goals.
